Glass Edging and Polishing Services
We produce the full range of glass edge profiles — seamed, flat ground, flat polished, pencil, bevel, mitre, and chamfer — across 1.6 to 19 mm thickness, on automatic edging, beveling, and polishing lines. Surface lapping and face polishing to optical-grade finish are handled on the same site.
Edge Work Is Both a Safety Requirement and a Finishing Decision
A raw-cut glass edge carries a sharp arris that injures handlers and initiates cracks under stress. Removing it is the minimum. For exposed edges — tabletops, shelves, frameless doors, display panels, appliance glass — the edge profile is part of the finished product, and the finish grade needs to match the application. We produce every profile used in architecture, furniture, appliances, and equipment glass, and we run them on automatic equipment for consistent geometry along the full edge run.
Edge Profiles We Produce
Seamed (Arrised) — sharp corners lightly ground off for safe handling; used where the edge sits hidden in a frame, channel, or rebate.
Flat Ground — smooth matte ground face with top and bottom chamfers; the working minimum for safety glass and framed architectural panels.
Flat Polished — ground then polished to a clear glossy finish with 45° arrises; for exposed edges on tabletops, shelves, and frameless doors where clarity matters.
Pencil (Round) — ground or polished to a soft C-shaped radius; for fully exposed edges in contemporary furniture and display glass.
Bevel — angled polished decorative edge up to ~60°; for mirrors, tabletops, and display panels where the edge is a visible design feature.
Mitre — angled edge for joining two panels at a corner or for structural silicone glazing details.
Chamfer — controlled angle-and-width break on the edge for precise housing fit and operator safety on equipment and appliance glass.
Surface Lapping and Face Polishing
Surface finishing runs as a separate operation from edge work. We lap and polish glass faces from approximately 3 mm to 300 mm component size, bringing surfaces from ground to optical-grade polish. Re-polishing of scratched or damaged surfaces is supported. Coarser ground and diffused finishes are available where a matte or light-scattering surface is the requirement rather than transparency.
Customer-supplied substrates are accepted for both edge and face finishing.
