We apply functional optical coatings to flat glass substrates — anti-reflective (AR), anti-glare (AG), anti-fingerprint (AF), transparent-conductive (TCO/ITO), reflective, and dichroic layers — on glass from 0.5 mm ultra-thin cover stock through to architectural plate.
What a Coating Actually Does
A coating is a stack of nanometre-scale thin films, each tuned to a specific wavelength range, deposited onto an optically clean substrate. The same clear glass can be made to suppress reflection, scatter glare, shed fingerprints, or conduct electricity — without changing its mechanical form or dimensions. Which films go into the stack, in what order and thickness, determines the optical result. Getting that result consistently requires substrate cleanliness at the nanometre level before a single layer goes down.
Coating Types and Functions
AR — Anti-Reflective
Suppresses surface reflection by thin-film interference, lifting transmittance toward 97%. Used on solar panels, display cover glass, camera optics, and museum / picture-frame glazing where stray reflection reduces contrast or output efficiency.
AG — Anti-Glare
A controlled micro-rough or chemically etched surface that diffuses reflected light into a soft haze, improving readability under direct or bright ambient light. Standard on monitor screens, instrument panels, and outdoor display glass.
AF — Anti-Fingerprint
A low surface-energy oleophobic top layer that prevents oils from bonding to the glass surface and allows contamination to be wiped clean without residue. Routinely stacked over AR or AG on touch panels, phone screens, and screen protectors.
TCO / ITO — Transparent Conductive
Thin films of indium tin oxide or other transparent conductive oxides that make the glass surface electrically active — used as touch-sensing electrodes, EMI shielding layers, and resistive heating elements for defogging and de-icing panels.
