Glass Edging and Polishing Services

At XX, we have built strong capability in precision glass edging and polishing, handling everything from safety arrising to polished decorative edges. With automatic edging, beveling, and polishing equipment, we support stable production of flat, pencil, bevel, mitre, and chamfer edges for custom glass components.

We provide complete glass edging and polishing services — flat ground, flat polished, pencil, bevel, mitre, and chamfer finishes — across the full 1.6–19 mm thickness range. Edge work is both a safety requirement and a finishing decision: a properly worked edge removes the sharp arris that injures handlers and seeds cracks, while a polished or shaped edge gives exposed glass its finished appearance.

Glass Edge Types We Produce

Each edge profile answers a different requirement, and we produce the full range used in architecture, furniture, and appliance glass:

  • Seamed (Arrised) Edge – sharp edges lightly ground off for safe handling; used where the edge is hidden in a frame or channel.
  • Flat Ground Edge – a smooth matte ground edge with top and bottom chamfers (arris); the working minimum for safety glass.
  • Flat Polished Edge – ground then polished to a clear glossy finish with 45° arrises; for exposed edges in tabletops, shelves, and frameless doors.
  • Pencil (Round) Edge – ground or polished to a soft C-shaped radius; for fully exposed edges and a contemporary look.
  • Bevel Edge – an angled, polished decorative edge (commonly up to 60°) for mirrors and tabletops.
  • Mitre Edge – an angled edge for marrying two panels at a corner or for structural silicone glazing.
  • Chamfer – a controlled angle/width break on the edge for housing fit and operator safety on equipment glass.

Surface Lapping and Polishing

Surface finishing is a separate capability from edge work. Flat lapping and polishing bring glass faces to optical-grade finishes for components from roughly 3 mm to 300 mm, including re-polishing of scratched or damaged surfaces and finishing of customer-supplied substrates. Coarser ground and diffused finishes are produced where a matte rather than transparent surface is required.
